Stadler Rail Service UK Limited (SRS UK) is a subsidiary of Stadler, Switzerland. SRS UK provides a train maintenance service for a growing number of clients in the UK. In the next few years over 150 new Stadler trains will be joining the English railway network which signifies the start of an exciting future for Stadler in the UK.
We therefore have an opportunity for a Depot Construction Contract (DCC) Project Manager to join our Head Office team. The role will be based at our Newcastle Depot and will require regular travel to our Liverpool Headquarters. Depot Construction Contract (DCC) Project Manager Your tasks • Supervise construction of the depot from beginning to end and track all project deliverables and work streams. • Update the project programme on a monthly basis and take overall responsibility for the delivery and project management of all civil engineering, ground works and project timeline for the construction of a new depot facility. • Managing the building sub-contractor to ensure that the project is completed on time to budget and the civil works are completed to the quality required. • Make sure the depot and the depot equipment fits to the new trains and the Stadler maintenance concept, working with the wider Stadler project team. • Management of contracts with depot suppliers. • Leadership and acquisition of resources and civil engineering disciplines from within the team and with 3rd party partners to support the relevant parts of the project, new depot and the maintenance operations • Instruct and monitor all sub suppliers to provide safe working environment at all times. • Deliver and update the project schedule, manage the scope of delivery and support overall Stadler business objectives. • Provide solutions during the build phases that minimises service disruption whilst maintain the depot build project timescale. • Communicate project expectations and needs to achieve project goals. • Undertake commercial duties including budget control, interim claims, assessing quotations and dealing with an NEC contract from both the client and a sub-contractor. • Ensure adherence to the overall project. • Manage all long-lead items and critical path activities. • Ensure that ground works, site clearance, supplied materials and logistic movements are managed effectively and work around daily operation of the depot. • Ensure that works are communicated to all stakeholders and agreements reached of when, how and where they will be conducted. • Provide weekly reports on status and KPI's. • Build and develop business relationships and network quickly and be customer and operations focussed with respect to depot construction. • Act as primary contact for DCC issues with the customer including attendance at all project review meetings. • Manage the DCC support tem including QS, Planning and Administration staff. Your profile Candidates should have experience of managing construction over £15 million. They should possess the ability to manage shifting priorities and work in a fast-paced environment. Being customer focused with a strong commercial awareness is essential. The successful candidate will have: • Demonstrated project management experience of delivering civil projects in a railway environment. • Experience in working independently on a large scale build project . • Demonstrated proactive management of changes in project scope and early identification of "road-blocks" as well as risk and opportunity. • Demonstrated contract management experience for civil projects. • Understanding of a depot environment and operations. • Excellent oral and written communication skills. • Construction related work experience. • Strong IT Skills and Competent with project management software such as MS - Project and Primavera. • Second language (German) would be an advantage • They should be available to work at any of our locations in the Liverpool/Newcastle region, all of which are accessible by train. • Good communication and organisation skills.
