Stadler Rail Service UK Limited (SRS UK) is a subsidiary of Stadler, Switzerland. SRS UK provides a train maintenance service for a growing number of clients in the UK. In the next few years over 150 new Stadler trains will be joining the English railway network which signifies the start of an exciting future for Stadler in the UK.
At our Birkenhead North Site we are looking to hire a Technician 2. This offer is for a 12 month, fixed term contract to work on heavy maintenance of the existing 507/508 fleet. Technician 2 Your tasks • To carry out safety critical and non-safety critical tasks in accordance with your competence to defined specifications such as VMI/VOI • Completing maintenance on 507/508 fleet including C4/C3+ overhaul, bogie overhaul, A exams, heavy maintenance & fault finding • Carry out fault finding activities, fault rectification and defect reporting • Understand and adhere to all workshop safety conditions • Ensure all documentation is completed correctly and L5 manager/MTS is advised on completion of work. • Ensure you maintain your working environment and equipment in a clean and safe condition. • The post holder is responsible to his/her manager for the health, safety and welfare of himself/herself, colleagues, contractors, customers or general public. • The post holder must fully report all accidents currently to his/her Manager and complete all necessary related documentation. • The post holder must attend safety briefings and raise any concerns about safety standards. • Ensure that trains that go into service are safe to do so in accordance with the safety requirements laid down in the relevant technical documentation, and that work is carried out in accordance with local safety and quality procedures. • Carry out all tasks as requested by line manager according to personal competency and agreed list of duties appropriate to role as specified in the WRI Agreement Documentation Your profile The successful candidate will meet the following essential criteria: • Recognised time served apprenticeship in electrical or mechanical discipline. • Ability and willingness to learn new skills • Experience in a rolling stock engineering environment. • Ability to work to engineering drawings/schematics. • Flexibility and willing to go the extra mile. • Experience in working to defined specifications such as VMI/VOI. • Experience working in a safety critical environment. • Ability to investigate, identify and repair Electrical/Mechanical faults. • Knowledge of 5s and continuous improvement within the workplace.
